Writers of Different Forms

Social Media is everywhere and it's big business! The business of content writing is growing and the number of opportunities for writers is increasing right along with it!

There's an outlet for every type of writer. Do you write novels, short stories or poems? Write a book that can be in print, online or downloaded to a reader. Do you like to write shorter informative pieces about a specific topic-or maybe just keep you friends and family updated on your daily life? Write a blog.
Or, are you somewhere in the middle? Do you write articles that are between 800-1200 word articles about subjects that are important to you in which you know others would appreciate reading but would probably never see the shelves of a traditional book store? If so, check out online content writing sites such as http://hubpages.com/

E Cig-Smoking Alternative

Are E-Cigarettes a good alternative
to traditional smoking or a danger
to health?

Electronic cigarettes (e-cigs) were
introduced to the market in 2004
by Chinese Druggist Hon Lik.

What are they...exactly?

E-cigs are battery operated, electronic inhalant devices
that produces heat and contains a cartridge full of
chemicals such as propylene glycol, nicotine and tetramethylpyrazine.
These chemicals are advertised to be non-carcinogenic which is means
not cancer forming.

But, does that mean they aren't harmful?

It may not cause cancer but nicotine has been proven to be damaging
to the heart. Prolonged exposure to tetramethylpyrazine
can cause brain damage in humans. Another chemical
called diethylene glycol, which is a component of
anit-freeze, has been found in the flameless smokes!

Recent reports prove that certain flavors of the
e-cig can be extremely harmful to children
who are exposed to its vapors.

Heart Health & the Mediterranean Diet

Recent studies suggest that the Mediterranean Diet
can actually cause REGRESSION of plaque
build up on arterial walls!

"High adherence to a Mediterranean diet appears to slow the progression of carotid plaque, a PREDIMED substudy suggests. Of note, investigators found an attenuation of plaque progression in the Mediterranean diet arm of the study that included supplementation with nuts and no such change in the other intervention arm, which included supplemental extra virgin olive oil"

The Big Itch:Poison Ivy, Oak & Sumac

Beware! Foliage that reeks havoc
can be in your own back yard!

Spring and summer are
seasons for beautifying
our lawns.

While doing yard work
you may find different
looking plants or vines
that you think are just
weeds. Before pulling them
up with your bare hands,
make sure it's not  something
that will have you scratching
for days to come!

The aspect of all 3 of these plants that cause
irritation, allergic reaction and the rash
that brings on the miserable itching
is the oils that these plants leave on
the skin after touching it. If not washed off
asap, it can cause a pustule type rash.
The rash itself is not contagious but
the transfer of the oil that causes it
can cause a rash in other areas or
other people.

Educating yourself on how to recognize
these plants, covering extremities and
wearing gloves while working in possible
infested areas and quickly washing yourself
and your clothing after possible contact
will give the best protection against
affliction these plants can cause!
